Dr. Kristen Keane BA, PhD Psychologist (Supervised Practice)
Dr. Keane provides psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She offers psychotherapy as well as psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments. Dr. Keane cherishes the importance of building a safe and trusting relationship with her clients: her approach is warm, authentic, and collaborative. Dr. Keane values each client’s unique strengths, needs, and circumstances, and draws from a range of evidence-based therapies to address their goals. Dr. Keane’s therapeutic approach is founded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and she integrates other modalities to best support her clients (i.e., Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, as well as emotion-focused and systemic approaches).
Dr. Keane completed her B.A. Honours in Psychology at Carleton University. She then completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Keane has received clinical training in a range of clinical settings, including hospitals, schools, community mental health centres, and adolescent residential assessment and treatment programs. Dr. Keane completed her pre-doctoral residency in Clinical Psychology at Eastern Health in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her research is focused on the interpretation of electronic text-based communication (namely deciphering teasing via texting) and has been accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
