Denise DeLaat, Occupational Therapist

Denise De Laat MEd. OT Reg. (Ont). is an Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of experience of practicing in the Ottawa-Carleton Region. She is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and holds a Master’s in Special Education from the University of Ottawa as well as a Joint Academic Appointment with its Program in Occupational Therapy. Denise brings experience from  a variety of settings including The Children’s Hospital of Ontario, Home Care and School settings as well as the CHEO Research Institute. She has a particular interest in working with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) as well as infants, children and youth with other complex physical and mental health needs.  Some of the challenges that these children may face include motor delays, concerns around sensory processing, difficulty with written output, and with self-regulation, all of which impact on successful daily participation.

In addition to being an occupational therapist, Denise is also a wife and mother to three children, and understands the demands that everyday life poses on children and their families. She enjoys a variety of sports, music and outdoor activities. Denise has further training in various areas of pediatric occupational therapy including:
